CLOSED Dominican Republic: Family/Medical 2024
Harris Creek, join us as we partner with Mission of Hope to engage the lost, equip the saints, and empower the church in the Dominican Republic!
ABOUT THE TRIP
Short-term trips are an incredible opportunity to grow spiritually, to cultivate an awareness of the world and needs around you, and to respond to God’s call to make disciples among all nations through personal, servant-minded ministry. We will partner with Mission of Hope, a missions ministry in Haiti and the Dominican Republic primarily working in and through local, indigenous churches and pastors.
Our Harris Creek team will have an opportunity to impact the Dominican Republic, just as much as the trip itself will have a long-term impact on our own lives. We will be a part of building intentional relationships in communities through work projects, ministry activities, and evangelism. Empowering indigenous leaders leads to sustainable change. When our team works alongside these local churches and ministry partners who know the needs of their communities, we are able to help these ministries serve more efficiently and effectively as we share the love of Christ together.
These trips are a place to experience God. They are a time to step away from your typical week, get a little out of your comfort zone, and experience life in a different place. Mission of Hope's desire is that your trip refreshes your soul and is a journey you never forget!
ABOUT MISSION OF HOPE
As an organization following Jesus Christ, Mission of Hope exists to bring life transformation to every man, woman, and child. With campuses in Haiti and the Dominican Republic, they partner with local churches to transform lives through church advancement, nutrition, education, and medical care. With over 20 years of experience coordinating trips for churches, families, and individuals, Mission of Hope believes that sustainable transformation is possible by partnering with the local churches and indigenous leaders so that ongoing ministry continues long after you go home.
ABOUT THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC
The Dominican Republic is the second largest Caribbean nation by size and third by population. It is located on the island of Hispaniola with Haiti. Despite improvements in recent years, there is still significant poverty throughout the Dominican Republic. Large communities of Haitian people have moved to the Dominican Republic in hopes of a better life, but they have instead been met with significant challenges. Located in the middle of the country is Mission of Hope's beautiful Jarabacoa Campus in the city of Jarabacoa. Because Jarabacoa is at the center of the country, it is a strategic area to launch out from for maximal kingdom impact throughout the entire country.
ABOUT THE MEDICAL OPPORTUNITY
Mission of Hope operates mobile medical clinics to serve those who have limited access to medical care. These clinics are part of a larger movement at Mission of Hope called Church Advancement. Mobile clinics are an important part of our Community Health Initiative. As a result, education and relationships take top priority. While you are serving, you will spend your week in one or two of our partner communities. You can expect to see about 50 patients per provider per day and with this, fill about 300-400 prescriptions per day.
Medical Clinic Goals:
- To work alongside the local indigenous church and leaders to minister to every man, woman, and child in their community by modeling Christ in all we say and do.
- To provide a pastoral care team to share the gospel with everyone in the community.
- To educate in the areas of wellness, community health, and disease state management.
- To build and maintain relationships with individuals from the local communities.
- Work with and train local community health leaders to maintain best practices between clinics.
- To deliver high quality health care by being prepared with the appropriate personnel, supplies, and diagnostics.
- Licensed medical professionals: MD, DO, PA, NP, RN, LPN, LVN, EMT, paramedic, CNA, RPh, PharmD, optometrists, dentists, PT and OT personnel, and chiropractors.
- All medical personnel will function according to their North American Scope of Practice. This includes prescribing procedures and treating patients.
- Non‐medical support personnel can assist by taking heights and weights, registering patients, assisting in the pharmacy, praying with patients, sharing the gospel, managing lines, and organizing operations and workflow.
